Kansas City Family Reunion Festival
Built on a tradition of quality community events
Forty Acres and a Mule, Inc. has produced many community events over the years including several years of our Gospel Under the Stars series and more recently the Juneteenth Family Festival. We recently sponsored the Kansas City Family Reunion Festival the weekend of August 6-8, 2010. A three day event designed to unite diverse cultural groups within Kansas City while celebrating all things Kansas City, events and performances were held at the 18th and Vine Jazz Distric, 40 Acres Activity Campus, and Kansas City Power and Light District. Partial funding was provided by the Neighborhood Tourism Development Fund administered by the city of Kansas City, MO. Stay tuned for more details on the 2011 festival. Since 1999 the Children's Connection program has provided an excellent environment to help nurture and develop children of incarcerated or recently incarcerated parents.
COMBAT, Jackson County's community-based anti-drug commission has been a long-time partner providing significant funding for the program. This program also receives support from its founding sponsor, St. James United Methodist Church, along with the Kirk Family Foundation and the Black Community Fund.
